Competency Based Education – A Bright Shiny Object

Without a doubt I am a fan of the idea of competency based education and all it stands to offer to today’s adult student. I’m delighted that several institutions are pushing forward with the idea of challenging themselves to wrestle with (and even figure out) making this happen. That being said, it somewhat infuriates me when I watch this topic dominate conversations within higher education arenas that have changed very little in the last 25 years. Let me explain.
